“A new band we love... bloody lush.” Lauren Laverne, BBC 6music
Howl Griff - Sharkfins In The Sky

Sharkfins in the Sky (Jan 2012)

Ahead of the hotly anticipated third (full) album, Howl Griff will release the single Sharkfins In The Sky in January 2012. As ever, it's full of surprises without abandoning the band's usual melody and harmony.

The music fuses New Wave guitar, 60s mellotron and disco's offbeat hi-hats – with guitarist Gary Parkinson guesting on lead vocal while front-man Hywel Griff joins the skintight rhythm section.

Meanwhile, the lyrics tell the tragic tale of a fatal shooting at an ice-rink disco – with a desperate determination to help those in need...

"Cleverer than a fox and twice as tuney" – Adam Walton, BBC Radio Wales

Howl Griff - The Hum

The Hum (Oct 2010)

After the acclaimed Welsh-language debut, Howl Griff speak in tongues with their first English-language album. The Hum is out now on Amazon and iTunes and in record shops nationwide – or download from Bandcamp for as little as 39p per track.

Recorded in Cardiff next to a taxis' knackers yard a goal-kick from Ninian Park, the 13 songs span a wide range of musical styles and lyrical themes.

From the Krautrock opener Bluebirds to the epic closer Lies & Facts – imagine Neil Young fronting Doves – the album displays Howl Griff's ever-eclectic but always interesting musical influences, from the Delgados to Dr Feelgood, Traffic to Teenage Fanclub and Steely Dan to Slade.

Howl Griff - The English EP

The English EP (Oct 2008)

The Welsh-language debut album was a roaring success but those who don't speak Cymraeg demanded their own version. So the vocalists went back to the same bonkers-remote Welsh studio to re-record half the tracks in English.

The re-recorded tunes are Pwy Yn Y Byd Wyt Ti? (which became Hey Hey Hey), Tyrd Amdana I (Bring Yourself Around), Hedd Nôd (Peace Sign), Grisial Clîr (Crystal Clair) and Chwalu Mur Berlin (Liquid From A Gun).

The mini-album is downloadable from Bandcamp: name your own price.

Howl Griff - The Debut Album

Howl Griff (June 2008)

Recorded in a bonkers-remote Welsh studio accessible only by 4x4 (or sturdy hiking boot), under the tutelage of Owen Powell (ex-Catatonia) with Tim Lewis (Julian Cope, Spiritualized) at the controls.

Ten titty-tinglingly terrific tunes, from the upbeat Hedd Nod to the epic DNA, make up a brilliant album you don't need to speak Welsh to enjoy. But don't take our word for it – ask the press: read the reviews below...
